Cavalli Club Opens in Dubai
November 02, 2009
Roberto Cavalli shows his stripes with a new over-the-top nightclub in Dubai. Nobody does wild and sexy like Roberto Cavalli. And now the Italian designer, who has tackled every leopard print that’s ever crossed his path, is bringing his formula of free-spirited excess to Dubai.
Built for drinking, dining, and dancing, his newly opened $30 million Cavalli Club, connected to the Fairmont Dubai hotel, looks like a giant Swarovski chandelier that landed in the middle of the desert. While it’s decorated with all the Cavalli signatureszebra-stripe chairs, purple faux-fur walls, black rosette-embossed leather banquettes, cheetah-on-leopard floorsthe cavernous space also offers some surprising twists. For dinner, which starts at 8:30 p.m., guests have their choice of sushi or Italian and the option to wash it down with the designer’s own labels of red wine and vodka.
Afterward, they can shimmy over to the suspended DJ booth that hovers over the dance floor, which is dusted with crystal, of course. There’s also all-night shopping available in a boutique annex, just in case the need for a Cavalli champagne flute or couch cushion strikes at 4 a.m. "It’s a totally unique space for people to socialize, shop, and eat in extravagant and opulent surroundings," says Cavalli, who already owns a club in Florence and has plans to open another in Milan in the near future. Let the good times roll.
